Broaden your horizons by studying abroad

It’s that time of year again; the University of Guelph-Humber is inviting students to study abroad for the summer semester of 2014.

Guelph-Humber has announced the list of courses and countries for the upcoming study abroad.

With a choice of six courses, each will involve a study tour of approximately 10 to 12 days to one of the following destinations which include France, Ecuador, New Zealand, Italy, Japan and London/Berlin.

“Our study abroad courses will help students to develop a broader perspective,” said Assistant Vice-Provost and Program Head of Business Dr. George Bragues. “It’s a skill set they’ll need upon graduation to be successful in today’s global environment.”

Students will have the opportunity to enhance their learning experience and travel to great countries. All students from first year to fourth year are able to sign up.

“We love having a large group of boys and girls, from different ages and races,” said Administrative Assistant, Farrah Lutchmansingh. “People become friends very quickly and we actually had one student who found the love of his life on the trip.”

Students will receive credit if the course is successfully completed. The cost will be $2,000 plus tuition for all courses except New Zealand. Students must pay $2,500 for the New Zealand course. Payment covers flight, accommodations, as well as transport and entrance costs.

The non-tuition portion is due Dec. 2, Feb. 3 and April 1. Tuition for the study abroad courses will be due in May.

There will be a minimum of 14 students per course and the course director will decide who is admitted. Students must be in good standing and if there isn’t enough space available, both the previous academic performance and the year of the student will be considered.
